Hello all, I’m starting this blog to track my progress on probably the most interesting commission I’ve ever been approached with, to create a studio scale replica of the stop-motion puppet of the Tauntaun from The Empire Strikes Back. I will attempt to recreate this puppet down to every last detail including a fully functional ball and socket armature and real fur. I was contacted via email by Guy Cowen on October 13th 2008 who was looking for help and info and possibly a person crazy enough to take on his personal dream of owning a replica of this prop, I accepted the challenge with much delight! This blog will follow my progress from the beginnings of the naked armature to (hopefully) a fully finished and accurate puppet.
